The Klark Teknik DN9610 offers an affordable and effective solution to overcome the 100-metre cable length limitation of Ethernet and CAT5 cabling in AES50 networks. Its compact design allows it to be positioned wherever an extended network connection is needed, requiring only a mains power source to operate.
Functioning as a repeater, the DN9610 extends two independent AES50 connections by up to an additional 100 metres – without the need for format conversion or costly optical fibre cabling. It supports both 48 kHz and 96 kHz operation, with each AES50 port capable of running at a different sample rate simultaneously. At 96 kHz, each connection can handle up to 48 bidirectional channels, while at 48 kHz it can support up to 96 bidirectional channels. This makes it an ideal choice for dual-redundant network setups, such as the X and Y connections used on MIDAS digital consoles.
Multiple DN9610 units can be cascaded to transmit AES50 over significant distances. For ease of use, each AES50 connection includes a nominal input and output port to simplify reference clock distribution, while the through-unit propagation delay is less than 0.5 microseconds – ensuring virtually no impact on overall network latency.
The DN9610 includes an external auto-ranging universal switch-mode power adapter, making it suitable for use worldwide. It also features dual-redundant power inputs (operating from +9 V to +18 V DC) to ensure seamless switchover in the rare event of power loss. Locking Switchcraft connectors provide added reliability, preventing accidental disconnection during use.
